Please remember to call 911 dispatch before entering the water. The Wichita Police Department has been receiving calls that there are stranded swimmers in the water. Wichita PD does not have a problem with kayakers, but when they recieve a 911 call they will send an officer out to take a look. When they come out to see what is going on this puts undue pressure on their patrols. We need to keep them our friends.

Ten Lakes Tour
This Spring KCKA member Larry Storer will be traveling across Kansas on a solo tour to promote kayaking . If you take a look at the above photo you will see his unique mode of transportation. He has named this trip “The Ten Lakes Tour”, as he will be stopping at ten lakes along the way. The tour will be about 430 miles and take about 15 days. He will be contacting area newspapers in or near the towns he will be passing through in order to promote the tour. He wants to encourage people to come out and learn about kayaking, enjoy kayaking an area lake, or just experience kayaking for the first time. Kayaking is a wonderful sport that can be enjoyed by all ages and by all fitness levels.
